When we went to the Grand Canyon on vacation, we also stayed in Sedona, Arizona where we ate dinner at Shugrue’s restaurant on Nov. 7, 1997 and saw the most spectacular sunset. My wife Catherine took the photo and was so moved by the beauty of God’s creation, she wrote the poem, “Who am i?”
Who am i
that You bring forth
Your angel in the sky
commanding the Holy Spirit
to descend into
a fiery wisp of clouded mist
like the tongues of fire
descending upon Your disciples
and now . . .
I am empowered by Your love
whispering in the
silence of the sunset
for the world to see
the beauty
only You could create
so majestically and mystically
illuminating the sky into
Your glorious love for
each one of us to see
from here unto eternity.
